Estee Lauder University: Lesson 4

Happy hump day! Am I the only one who just hates that nickname for Wednesday? Anyway, it's the middle of the week and time for another Estee Lauder beauty myth vs. reality lesson.

Myth #4: Moisturizer can do it all.

Reality according to Estee Lauder: False. Although moisturizer is an essential step in good skin care, you shouldn't rely on moisturizer alone. Estee Lauder suggests adding a serum to work with your moisturizer to repair your skin. Reality according to Lydia: Moisturizer is one of the most overused beauty products on the market. Yes, it can be a great multi-tasker, but there are so many other products out there that can either work with or take the place of your moisturizer. It all depends on what results you want. If you want to smooth out the surface of your skin and reduce the size of your pores, you might consider a foundation primer instead of a moisturizer. If you're looking for something that might firm your skin or keep it from aging, you might want a more powerful product or a night cream.

Moisturizer isn't a cure for everything, but it does have it's place...especially if your skin is dry or if you need to make sure you get sun protection (most moisturizers contain an SPF). So, go ahead and use your everyday moisturizer, but consider other products for more specialized and targeted effects.
