Metal Girl!

Even though I adore Type O Negative, think that Metalocalypse is one of the funniest TV shows out there, and am married to a metalhead, I am far from a heavy metal girl. Despite my musical preferences, I can still appreciate the rock and rock aesthetic and can even make myself something of a metal girl with a handful of metal-inspired products. Try a few of the items listed below to mix up your everyday makeup look. Adding something a little unexpected, even a little wild, will make you feel refreshed and slightly rebellious. Let the good times roll!

FOR A SUBTLE, YET METAL LOOK:
  • Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner, $18 from Urban Decay. Urban Decay is THE cosmetics company for the rock and roll look. With names like Air Guitar, Mullet, Headbanger, and Spandex, these glittery liquid eyeliners will add some sparkle to your eyes. The unexpected colors will wake up an otherwise neutral or conservative look. And that little glint of shine and color acts like jewels to dress up your entire face.
  • Glam Rocks, $16 from LORAC. These molten metal-like metallic eyeshadows promise to rock your world! Ultra-metallic pigments in rich bronze hues glide on easily for long-wearing, sexy, shiny color that steals the spotlight. Choose from metallic pearl, metallic gold, or metallic copper. You can't go wrong!
FOR AN EXTREME METAL LOOK:
  • Heavy Metal Glitter Eye Gel, $18 from Urban Decay. If you're wanting to glam yourself up for a big night out, try this squeeze-on eye gel in colors like Rockstar, Roadie, or Power Ballad. The ultra-colorful and super sparkly eye gel will certainly get you some rockstar attention!
  • OPI's Go Deliciously Dark Collection, $7.50 each. These ultra-dark, mega-vampy nail colors (including Lincoln Park After Dark, Lincoln Park at Midnight, Espresso Yourself, and Black Onyx) will have your nails dressed up and ready for a night of heavy music and hard drinks. Add a clear glitter nail polish as a top coat and your nails will be zazzy and ready to rock!
